Seva · सेवा नै मूल हो

Service is the root

Every offering received brings free sessions to those who need peace most — schools, care homes and healing centres across Nepal.

Seva is not something the Foundation does alongside its work. It is what the work grew out of, and it remains the larger part of it.

Before there were guests, there were rooms full of people who could never have paid for an hour of quiet — students, police personnel on long shifts, staff at care centres, people in a municipal mental-health programme. The Foundation went to them because it was asked, and because that is what the tradition expects of anyone who has been given something.

Nothing has changed since. When you pay for a session, a class or a place on a journey, part of what you give goes directly towards sessions that are given free to people who need them. You do not need to opt in, and we will not put a badge on your receipt. It is simply how the Foundation is arranged.

Freely given

Where the free sessions have gone

  • Security forces Yoga and meditation training for police personnel of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, for which the Foundation holds a Letter of Appreciation from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Sessions have also been given to Nepal Army personnel.
  • Schools across Kathmandu valley Sessions for students and staff, with letters of appreciation from a number of schools.
  • A municipal mental-health and wellbeing programme Yoga instruction for the programme run by Aarughat Rural Municipality, for which Yogi Ji was honoured by the municipality.
  • Wellness and healing centres A five-day sound therapy programme delivered at Newa Chhe Yoga Sadhana Kendra.
  • Mountain communities Sessions given on journeys into the hills, in the villages that host us along the way.

Most of this work happens in courtyards and canteens, not in studios.

If your institution needs this and cannot pay for it

Please write to us. Schools, orphanages and children's homes, care homes, hospitals and hospices, rehabilitation and healing centres, shelters, and community groups working with people in difficulty — these are the places the free sessions are for.

Tell us who you are, roughly how many people, and what would help. There is no application form and no reporting requirement. If we can come, we will; if we are already committed for the season, we will say so honestly rather than leave you waiting.

We only ask that the session be genuinely free to the people receiving it.

“What was given to us was given free. We are only passing it along.”
